Our mission statement is:
"Working with high expectations and pride, towards continuous improvement in teaching practices and student outcomes".
As a school community this is our aim every day and it is underpinned by our core values:
Explicit high expectations of all learners
Valuing individuals and expecting and recognising success
Partnerships with parents
Personal responsibility and accountability
Our core pedagogical practice is Explicit Instruction. Explicit Instruction is practised by all of our teachers, particularly when teaching new concepts and content.
At Middlemount Community School we believe that there should be a seamless transition between primary and secondary schooling, but we understand that students learn very differently depending on where they are on the learning continuum.
To support students learning, our curriculum is organised in a way that reflects three sectors of primary, junior secondary and senior secondary, each with their own tailored curriculum. We are able to better prepare and support our students as they transition between the three, but we particularly focus on the transition between primary and secondary.
We are able to focus on the transition as we are a P-12 school. Our students know all their teachers, participate in high school activities, access senior classrooms and are taught by high school teachers in specialised lessons.
