Prep

To be eligible for Prep, children must be five years of age by 30 June in the year they intend to commence Prep. Early entry to Prep is only available if a child meets certain criteria (such as having previously been enrolled in an equivalent program interstate or overseas, or if the child will turn five years between 1 and 31 July and is considered by the principal as being ready for education). Parents have the flexibility to delay their child's entry to Prep by one year if they are concerned their child is not ready for Prep.

Beginning prep is an exciting time for both children and parents and we look forward to sharing your child’s journey with you. If you have any questions or concerns about this transition, please do not hesitate to contact one of our staff to assist you. Call the school office on 49812333 and we will be very happy to help you.

Enrolment Process

Enrolment packs are available from the school office from the beginning of term 4 of the year preceding entry to Prep. Each year, Middlemount Community School conducts a Transition program for students entering Prep. The enrolment pack contains information about this program. The program includes:

  • A meeting with parent and child to discuss progress and literacy and numeracy development
  • A formal enrolment interview
  • Parent information sessions
  • Opportunities for children to visit the school and participate in multiple transition sessions.
